All About Iona, FL

What Is Iona?

Iona is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Lee County that sits within the Greater Fort Myers area. While you won't find any homes with "Iona" in the address city line, you will hear the term used locally in conversations about real estate or when asked where someone lives.

Where Is Iona?

To be more specific, the map below outlines the area of Iona. Many of the homes in Iona are within 5 miles of the Sanibel Causeway and/or the Matanzas Pass bridge to Fort Myers Beach.

Did we mention the area also borders the Caloosahatchee River? There are several canals with waterfront properties that boast access from the river to San Carlos Bay and out into the Gulf of Mexico. Iona is a great place to live if you want to get on the water quickly!

What's In Iona?

Besides some of the most highly sought-after residential communities in Southwest Florida, there are also a number of businesses to note. Our personal favorite is Loveboat Ice Cream! In Iona, you'll also find the Sanibel Outlets, multiple golf courses, local restaurants, churches and places of worship, larger stores like Target and Publix, and even a few yacht clubs!

Iona Residential Communities

A few notable communities within the Iona area include Gulf Harbour Yacht & Country Club, Kelly Greens Golf and Country Club, the Catalpa Cove Community, and portions of the Shell Point Community. Of course, there are other great communities located within and around the Iona area. We'd love to show you around! As always, don't hesitate to reach out for more information - 239-472-1950.
