Welcome To Captiva Island

Home of the dolphin! Captiva Island is a true tropical oasis located just north of Sanibel Island. In fact, the only way to get to Captiva Island is by driving all the way through Sanibel, or by boat, of course. If you do choose to come via water, you’re sure to have a pod of dolphins follow in your wake, or waiting to greet you in the cove. Just consider that the Captiva welcoming committee.

More About Captiva Island

Cast A Line

Blind Pass is the cut that divides Sanibel from Captiva Island. As you come over the small bridge, Turner Beach greets you on the left side of the sandy two-way street. Here’s where you can hook a big catch right from the shore, or while kayaking in the pass. Cast a line, Captiva is a Fisherman’s paradise!

Catch A Charter

Even if fishing isn’t your thing, there are great dolphin watching, sailing and sunset charters that leave out of Captiva Island. The bayside of the island offers scenic backwater views that are full of wildlife. Walking the docks while waiting for your charter, you’ll likely see manatee hanging around and egrets fishing for dinner. We call them “the locals.”

Coastal & Kitschy

Speaking of dinner, Captiva is home to a few popular and somewhat kitschy restaurants such as the Bubble Room, which is decorated with tacky retro Christmas decor, and the Mucky Duck, which boasts outdoor seating, live music, and amazing sunset views. Of course, there are other great options such as the local favorite, Doc Ford’s, Old Captiva House and the Key Lime Bistro. So don’t worry, you won’t go hungry!

Iconic Beach Resorts

At the end of Captiva Drive, you’ll run into South Seas Island Resort, which is hands-down one of the most beautiful resort communities in Southwest Florida. South Seas has it all, 2.5 miles of beach to lounge on, a marina for charters and boaters, a spa for relaxing, small shops for splurging and a golf course for putting. Captiva is also home to Tween’ Waters Island Resort and Spa, about mid-way up the island, which also boasts Bayfront and Gulf-front access.

Get on Island Time

Being so far removed from the busy streets of downtown Fort Myers or Naples, you’ll find yourself on true island time on Captiva. Most homes stretch either along the bayside or beachside of the narrow island, and have maximum privacy with beautiful vegetation separating you from the road and your neighbor. Captiva is a tropical gem and best-kept secret of Southwest Florida.
